Since Ximena Trejo became a member of the Roberts Club, she has truly made her mark with both staff and other members. At age 10, she has an amazing ability to relate to younger kids and help staff keep them calm and engaged in Club programs. At Yulee Primary School, Ximena loves reading and science. She is bilingual in Spanish and English, a talent that will aid in her future achievements. She delights in drawing and also in riding her bike – her favorite sport – and in joining family activity at home. Ximena is an asset in any group at the Club with her big smile and sense of humor. When she grows older, she hopes to become a medical doctor and practice right here in Fernandina. That bodes well for the health of the community!

The big grin you see on the face of Aaron Thomas is one he wears every hour of the day. A most cheerful and joyful youngster, his attitude is contagious with both other Roberts Club members and the Club staff. Just age nine years and in 2nd grade at Southside Elementary, Aaron is a leader – encouraging his peers to participate in Club activities. At school, he is most enthusiastic about science and technology. At home, he enjoys being engaged with his family and loves playing with his baby twin brothers. After a year as a Roberts Club member, Aaron has become friends with just about everyone in his age group. He aspires to attend college and thinks it would be great to be a manager at a Legoland

Jordan Rogers represents the best of what the Clubs seek to teach. At age 12 and in 7th grade at Fernandina Beach Middle School, Jordan is a leader and eager participant in Roberts Club functions. He has earned the role of announcer on the Club PA system, calling our Club members names when they are to be picked up in the late afternoon. The Club Staff know that Jordan can always be counted on to assist with off-site trips and other volunteer opportunities. His other activities include those of his church and team sports: baseball, in particular. Jordan is kind and well-behaved, remarkably mature, and is respected by all who he has come to know in his three years of Club membership. After college, Jordan aims to serve in the Marine Corps, where he would no doubt be leader, too.      

Jayce Hickman is not the tallest youngster for his age of nine years, but he may have the biggest heart of his peers. He is a natural leader among the members of the Roberts Club, a consistently well-mannered and courteous young man, greatly admired by the Club staff. His humor, intelligence and maturity made him stand out, even more than his recently shed shoulder-length head of hair. Jayce’s favorite program at the Club is the Technology Lab and he does well in the 3rd grade math and science classes at Emma Love Hardy Elementary School. Jayce enjoys the opportunity to be outside in our fine Florida weather, playing sports and being with his family – a big change from his first home in Indiana. His ambition is to join the Army and serve his country, a true young patriot.

Jalen Evans is one of four siblings who are members of the Roberts Club, each of whom is a credit to their family. Jalen is the third in the line and at age nine, has been a member for just over a year. Her attitude brings joy to the room, always smiling and in a good mood. Although only in 3rd grade at Emma Love Hardy Elementary, Jalen displays amazing maturity, intelligence and leadership ability. At school, she finds math and reading to be her favorites. Her outside interests include bike riding, attending Church each Sunday and spending time with her grandparents when they visit. Surprisingly, Jalen has a career objective already in mind: she wants to be a police officer. Her dedication to that goal is strong, and may well continue as Jalen grows up.   

Andre Lucas is an athlete who brings joy and enthusiasm each day to the Roberts Club. In 6th grade at Fernandina Beach Middle School, this youngster is a real plus in the Club Sports and Fitness program where he leads and often offers to assist Coach Lewallen. At school, he is involved with most of the sports teams, including football, basketball, baseball and track. Andre does well academically, participating in the Homework Club sponsored by Communities in School. Math is his favorite subject. At home, he is faithful in doing chores and is responsible for the family dog. At age 12, Andre aspires to play professional football but also believes it would be wise to study engineering in college, perhaps at University of Alabama or Clemson. His great attitude should carry him far.

Alex Voboril is regarded as a stellar member of the Roberts Club, invariably courteous, well-behaved and gentle. He attends Emma Love Hardy Elementary in 5th grade where his favorite subject is math. At the Club, Alex is an eager participant in all program areas and particularly looks forward to time in the Technology Room. Alex is active in the community and at school, swimming and playing soccer, as well as helping with chores at home. When he has spare time, he enjoys reading science fiction. Alexis is always smiling, a natural leader. At age 10, he thinks a career as an architect would be rewarding but is on the road to success, no matter what path he chooses.

At age eleven years, Bridget Peeples displays surprising leadership ability. This 6th grader at Fernandina Middle School has been named Vice-President of the Torch Club at Roberts Boys & Girls Club, and is a candidate for Student Council at school – where she earns A and A/B Honor Roll status. With her dad, she won the Father/Daughter Waltz competition last year of the National League of Junior Cotillions. Bridget is a model Club member, quick to help younger members with homework, active in several Club programs and performing lead roles in Club play productions. She helps her mom at home a lot and she plays the trumpet, too! Bridget aspires to attend Florida State University or perhaps Flagler College. Her interest in science leads her toward engineering as a career but she also loves animals – so becoming a veterinarian beckons as well.

Madison Stuedemann is a pleasure to have as a member of the Roberts Club, always courteous and smiling. She participates in Club programs such as The Arts, The Masters and Technology, and is quick to volunteer when Club staff can use help with set-up and clean-up. Starting 4th grade at Emma Love Hardy Elementary next semester, Madison wants to continue making good grades and the Honor Roll. At school her favorite subjects are Performing Arts and Music. And this youngster is active in the Youth Choir and Praise Dance Team at Fernandina Beach Church of God. She credits her Mom and Nanna with providing her with positive role models. While just age 9, Madison already has a career objective in mind: police work. She will do well at whatever future activity she adopts.

Taliyah Clinch is a kind-hearted, sincere youngster in 5th grade at Emma Love Hardy Elementary. At the Roberts Club, she is quick to help younger Club members and always demonstrates good behavior. Her favorite Club programs are Arts and Education. At home, Taliyah takes responsibility for cleaning her room and washing her clothes, exceptional for an 11 year-old! She has enrolled in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program at school which seeks to prepare students for college and lifetime success through development of a growth mindset and specific skills. Taliyah expects to improve her academic standing through AVID and what she learns at the Club. At this point in her life, Taliyah aspires to a career in police work, solving mysteries, or perhaps in medicine. We wish her well!

Sarah Akerly is 8 years old and in 3rd grade at Emma Love Hardy Elementary. She is an exemplary student on the A/B Honor Roll at school, where Sarah has been assigned leadership roles in science projects by her teacher. At the Roberts Club, Sarah is eager to help staff in any way she can. Her favorite Club program areas are the Technology Center, Games Room and Sports/Fitness. She loves learning about golf and participates in the First Tee program. Her mom is a computer technician and Sarah thinks that technology would be a great career path to follow. Her college of choice is Devry University where she believes she could explore her technical options. We think Sarah’s future is very bright!

A youngster with enthusiasm, focus and energy is Alexis Charron. She attends Emma Love Hardy Elementary in 3d grade and made the Honor Roll there. At the Roberts Club, Alexis can be found as a participant in almost every program - the Freedom Choral Group and Dance Group, to mention just two. She was thrilled to be awarded a second place finish in the recent Freedom Essay Contest. At Greater Fernandina Beach Church of God Alexis belongs to the “Angel Dance Group” which performs at church-related events. In all her activities, Alexis is a natural leader, always helping others and the Club staff - and always smiling! Although just age 10, she has formed a plan for her future: to enroll at Harvard University and then become an elementary school teacher. Alexis has a bright future indeed!  

Frances Guana is a youngster with dedication combined with friendliness. In 5th grade at Emma Love Hardy Elementary, she earns straight A’s in class, fulfills needs at home after school, and still is an active member of the Roberts Club. She has participated in Club programs including Smart Girls, Money Matters, The Masters, Arts & Crafts and Sports & Fitness. But Frances concentrates on Power Hour every day to help her reach and maintain her academic goals. At home, Frances cares for her younger sibling and helps with a full range of chores. With her sunny personality, this 10 year-old is a model for other Club members, both younger and older. Frances aspires to attend FSU and, building on her love of reading, have a career in teaching or as a librarian. Her ambition should carry her far!  

Aniyah Ethridge is an outstanding example of the value of the Boys & Girls Clubs programs for teenagers as well as younger members. At age 17, Aniyah has belonged to the Roberts Club for two years. When she first joined, she had problems that affected her school performance as well as relationships with others. But Aniyah says that the Club has made her a better person. That change shows clearly now in her outlook, disposition, and behavior. Aniyah smiles constantly, is positive in attitude, and a pleasure to be around. She cheerfully takes responsibility at home for her siblings and helps with housework. At the Roberts Club, Aniyah participates in Keystone Club and helps at the Canteen. As she strives to better her performance in school, her goal is a career in psychiatry after college at, perhaps, Ohio State. Aniyah’s future is bright indeed.

Hadela Liburn is a mature young person at age 12, in 7th grade at Fernandina Beach Middle School, earning straight A’s on the Honor Roll. At the Roberts Club, she meets the definition of role model for other members. She is active in Club programs after school, comes in to the Club to help on non-school days and is sought out by other members for advice. In the community, Hadela is highly involved in the youth programs of First Assembly of God, including an acting role in the Church’s Christmas play. She is on the editing staff of the FBMS Literary magazine, Smorgasbord. Hadela aspires to attend the University of Central Florida, currently interested in Accounting and Theatre. It looks like the sky’s the limit for Hadela!

Carson Harris is a model Club member. At age 8 and in 3rd grade at Emma Love Hardee Elementary, she is active in a remarkable number of groups and programs – at the Roberts Club, at school and in the community. Carson finds her favorite Club program to be the Learning Zone which is both mentally challenging and lots of fun. Her range of activities run from cheerleading to choir at school and church to golf in the Club’s First Tee program. Always cheerful and helpful with a big smile, Carson maintains an A/B average at school, excelling in math, and still finds time to help care for her baby sister. Her ambition is to attend Georgia Tech and develop a career in chemistry. Carson is certainly on the right road to achieve that!  

In 10th grade and on Honor Roll at Fernandina Beach High School, Jhania Williams has become a role model for other members of the Roberts Club. Quiet but always smiling and unfailingly helpful to Club staff, Jhania credits Club membership with helping her become outgoing and gain friends. Her favorite Club Teen Program is Keystone Leadership Training. She attended the regional Keystone Conference last year in Orlando. She not only enjoys Keystone Leadership but finds it a way to learn how to serve others. Jhania eagerly participates in the Tipping the Scale program sponsored jointly by Baptist Medical Center Nassau and Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County. At age 15, her ambition is to earn a degree at FSU College of Law, become a Defense Attorney and help the innocent. We know her idealism will lead to success!

Nevaeh Morris lights up a room when she enters, with her big smile and positive attitude. In fourth grade at Emma Love Hardy Elementary, she regularly makes the A-B Honor Roll and believes she can do even better. Participating in many Roberts Club programs, Nevaeh’s favorite is the Freedom Choral Group where she excels. She was chosen to represent the Club at a BGC Northeast Florida choral event as well as at games and dance competitions. Nevaeh carries her love of music on to singing in her church youth choir. She carries her willingness to help younger Club members to her home life by helping with her siblings and household chores. At age 9, Nevaeh already has a career choice in mind: she wants to become a pediatrician – and we think she would be a great one! 

In third grade at Emma Love Hardy Elementary, Mathis Fowler is already an established sportsman. He plays shortstop and pitcher in the Fernandina Babe Ruth League, and Pop Warner football as a running back. So Mathis is a natural to take the lead in Roberts Club Sports and Fitness programs. He does well in school, making Honor Roll all year and excelling at math.

     Mathis is active in his church’s Youth Group and volunteered with other church youngsters at the recent Shrimp Festival. This nine-year-old displays a positive attitude and eagerness to help no matter what. Mathis has a dream of playing professional football but his more realistic goal is attending Law School to become a Defense Attorney. That’s a goal his determination and personality will let him achieve! 

Hannah Rogers is a pleasure to have as a member of the Roberts Club, respectful, friendly and attentive with a charming smile. She excels in third grade at Emma Love Hardee Elementary where she maintains an A-B Honor Roll status. At home, Hannah takes care of her pet dog and helps with household chores. At the Club, she volunteers to help and participates in most Club programs. Her favorite program is Arts. Not content to be active at the Club alone, Hannah is a member of a dance company at Kinder Studios, where she has learned Ballet, Tap & Jazz Dance and shows her skills in recitals. Although just nine years old Hannah knows the career she wants to pursue.

     Her ambition is to attend the University of Florida’s College of Medicine to become a physician. We believe Hannah would be a fine doctor!

If you are willing to wait a few years for a gourmet Chef, Kevin Addison is your man! This fourth grade student at Emma Love Hardee Elementary already displays skills in the kitchen, cooking breakfast for his family on weekends, all with a big smile and pleasant attitude.  He willingly does the chores at home and at the Roberts Club that keep those places clean and neat. Kevin shows leadership skills as well in Club activities. He enjoys playing soccer, and he likes writing best all among his school subjects. At age nine, Kevin has plenty of time to further develop his cooking aptitude. He aspires to attend FSU and then pursue a culinary career.

     We can almost taste Kevin’s delicious presentations, right now!  

Nelson Morris is in fifth grade at Emma Love Hardee Elementary and is a joy to have as a member of the Roberts Club. He cheerfully helps Club staff with the chores needed to keep the Club clean and neat. When he is home, he does the same for his mom and grandmother.  At the Club, he most of all enjoys the activities of the Sports, Recreation and Fitness Department. And here, too, this 11- year old helps out, showing younger members how to improve their skills. Club programs aid Nelson in meeting the challenge of math in school.

     His ambition is to attend Auburn University and launch a career in Law Enforcement. Nelson has what it takes to be a good cop!

Trinady Shields is age 12 and in sixth grade at Emma Love Hardy Elementary where her favorite classes are learning to type well and to use the computer. She carries that over to membership at the Roberts Club when she volunteers to help younger members in the Technology Lab. Her positive and friendly attitude is a big asset at the Club. Trinady also shows real talent as a two-year member of the Club Choral Group, in singing and drama, where her willingness to help younger members stands out. Trinady recognizes the value of finishing her schoolwork in Power Hour, making time for other Club programs and for helping at home.

    She hopes to follow her love of singing to the professional level when she grows older, in music or the stage. Trinady has the ability to make that happen!

Shianne Grosventre is just a nice youngster to be around. This nine-year-old member of the Roberts Club is always friendly and helpful, and is eager to participate in Club programs. Shianne may be found in Project Learn, The Masters, Ever Fi, Music Matters, Drama Matters and Arts & Crafts and she is a member of the Miller Freedom Club Chorale. At home, she pitches in with chores and helping her younger siblings. In third grade at Emma Love Hardee Elementary, Shianne likes math and has a goal of making A-B Honor Roll. She sees her future as a Visual Artist after college. If making friends is a measure of success, Shianne has a bright future indeed. 

Breanna Floyd is a quiet, happy, unassuming youngster with a big grin. She enjoys school at Emma Love Hardee, where she makes the A-B Honor Roll in fourth  grade, and she excels at reading. This 11-year-old is popular with other Roberts Club members and always willing to lend a hand with clean-up after BGC Club activities. At home, she is a big help to her mom with cooking and keeping things neat. Breanna participates in most BGC Club programs, including: Project Learn, The Masters, Arts & Crafts, and her favorite, Learning Zone. During the last Summer Camp, she danced in the Talent Show to the tune of “Turn Down for What!“

     Breanna aspires to a career in nursing where she's should be a great success! 

Kenya Perkins is an A-B Honor Roll student in fifth grade at Emma Love Hardee Elementary. But her path to becoming a valuable member of the Roberts Boys & Girls Club has been bumpy. This 10-year-old freely admits she had a bad attitude in school and at home before joining the Club. But now her positive, friendly and helpful approach makes the staff look forward to her arrival at the Club. She was honored by being selected to draw the winning ticket in the Wallace Pierson Travel drawing. It is always a joy to see a youngster who overcomes mistakes and grows in a productive way. Kenya hopes to continue her education and, some day, become a cosmetologist. With Kenya’s innate ability and new-found attitude, her lifetime success seems assured. 

Camron is a cheerful, hard-working member of the Roberts Club. This eleven-year-old youngster attends fourth grade at Emma Love Hardy Elementary where his name is always found on the A-B Honor Roll. Camron participates in most of the Club programs but his favorite is Sports & Recreation. And Camron doesn’t just play in sports, he consistently helps with “take down” chores at the end of each day’s activity. At home Camron is a great help to his mom, even taking on cooking for family meals. He hopes to attend college and would love to play football, perhaps as a career. His positive attitude is sure to take Camron to success in the future.

Ellie is a third grader at Emma Love Hardy Elementary School and one of the most active members of the Roberts Boys& Girls Club. She participates in Project Learn, The Masters, Triple Play, Freedom Choral Group, SMART Girls and Dance Troop. Ellie likes math and is on the A-B Honor Roll at school. At the Club, she is quiet and polite – and very helpful when cleaning up is needed. Home life can be difficult for Ellie but she has big dreams. She would like to become a pediatrician, building on her love of babies. We think Ellie would be a great doctor!

Malcolm is exceptional as a very well-behaved and articulate youngster who attends Southside Elementary in second grade. Staff members at the Roberts Club see Malcolm as mature much beyond his seven year age and to be highly trustworthy. He is eager to help with the chores around the Club, which mirrors his willingness to help with chores at home. At school he achieves A-B Honor Roll and looks forward to swimming a lot when he has the chance. It is a bit too soon for Malcolm to have his future planned but we know he will bring a great attitude to whatever he attempts.

Giovanni is the exemplar of a nice kid. He is a pleasure to have as a member at the Roberts Club. At age 8 and in second grade at Southside Elementary, he does well in school and at home, helping his mom in every way he can. He participates in most Club programs, and has discovered a talent for acting and singing in the Miller Freedom Choral Group and in the Drama Club. Giovanni also is very interested in sports, and plays on Club teams. While he has a lot of time to decide on his future, his ambition now is to play professional football or perhaps have a career in law enforcement. Giovanni’s positive attitude and winning smile is sure to carry him to success.  

Blake is simply a positive and pleasant 10-year-old to have at the Roberts Club. His behavior is exemplary, a role model for other members, and he joins fully in Club academic programs: Project Learn, The Masters, Trip-Play and Brain Candy. Sports are important to Blake. He has been in Babe Ruth Baseball since he was old enough to join, plays shortstop and participates in Club baseball and football, too. He helps both his parents with household jobs. A fifth-grader at Emma Love Hardy Elementary, he is working hard to improve his marks. His interest in building things makes Blake look forward to engineering as a career with a goal of attending the FSU College of Engineering. We believe his attitude and energy will carry him far!
