All ABOUT US...

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County Foundation
  • Independent not-for-profit organization.

  • Supports two Boys & Girls Clubs in Nassau County

  • Provides funds, facilities and vital services in support of the two local Clubs and the Foundation.

Private sources, primarily in Nassau County, provide 89% of the Foundation's funding, and another 11% comes from public money.  The annual operating budget for both Clubs and the Foundation is approximately $1 million.  Charity Navigator (CN), the highly-respected national rating agency, has awarded Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County (BGCNF) its top rating: four stars!

The Clubs are integrated deeply into the local communities receiving support, participation in activities, volunteerism and enjoy a general level of interest in the “well being” of the Clubs. Additionally, all construction costs, capital improvements, annual operating costs for both Clubs and the Foundation to date are paid for without incurring any debt. The Foundation owns both of the Club facilities, free and clear. All directors and officers of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County Foundation serve in a volunteer capacity.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County Foundation was established in 2000 and began operating a temporary Boys & Girls Club in the old Yulee Middle School. In 2006 funds were raised to complete the 23,000 sq. ft. Miller Freedom Center Club in Yulee, Florida. This club consists of a 10,500 sq. ft. facility, with an 13,000 sq. ft., state-of-the art, athletic facility, and it operates with a daily capacity of 500 kids between the ages of 6-18.

In 2008 the Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County Foundation opened a temporary club in space provided by the Fernandina Beach Housing Authority. In 2012 funds were raised to complete the facility known as the Roberts Learning & Achievement Center. The club consists of an 8,000 sq. ft. facility along with a covered outdoor, state of the art, athletic facility. This club's daily capacity is 250 kids between the ages of 6-18.

Both clubs adhere to a 20:1 daily member/staff metric, without including leadership. The curriculum has an emphasis on discipline and respect for achievement by members. Curriculum content comes from BGCA, as well as our own local efforts in customizing appropriate curriculum needs. More than 80 community volunteers come to the Clubs to mentor kids and supplement the staff.

"Donating to Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County is the best investment I have ever made."

David Miller, Director Emeritus and Founder
